How Money Coaching has Empowered my Life
My Money Story
Julius Caesar’s famous words ‘Experience is the teacher of all things’ is certainly true when it comes to my journey through Money Coaching.
I had to go through the full process as part of my coaching training. Deborah Price, founder of the Money Coaching Institute took me on a journey that was unexpectedly raw, emotional and often resulted in tears, (mine, not Deborah’s).
This transformative experience brought to the surface many feelings that I’d pushed down and, in some ways, didn’t want to expose.
Stripped down to reveal myself
In these sessions I bared my soul, working through my fear, shame, guilt, and harboured resentment. I had explored childhood influences with my kinesiologist and life coach, but the money coaching process clearly highlighted how these experiences had affected me when it came to money, and how I had carried these patterns and behaviours forward into adulthood.
It shone a torch on why I am the way I am
Reading the 8 Money Archetypes, I knew I would be a strong ‘Warrior’. The warrior in me has enabled me to create financial independence and wealth, and strive in my careers. What I didn’t realise was how I held myself back, at times, from experiencing joy and living a fulfilling life with the money I had.
After losing my dad and the ongoing pain of our continuing IVF journey, money was the one thing I could control.
It has been a massive learning curve to let go of my past and focus on the now, without feeling like I’m sacrificing our future.
No one is perfect
Deborah’s Money Coaching helped me understand what I needed to work on within myself, and gave me the tools I needed to support my learning and growth. My training, and the shifts I have made, have enriched my relationships, not only with those closest to me but also my clients. Many times, my husband has been a guinea pig and the changes are evident as our communication around money has become increasingly open and honest. It has allowed us to be more comfortable with being vulnerable, and to understand each other in a way we may never have if I hadn’t gone down the money coaching path.
It isn’t a quick fix; it’s something I continue to work on day in, day out. But money coaching has truly transformed my financial and personal health and overall wellbeing.
